︎I am fascinated by animation techniques that force the viewer to take a more active role when consuming the work. The act of physically flipping through a flipbook, or peaking through the slits in a zoetrope produce a sense of childlike exploration and imagination that is missing when a person simply stands in front of a screen as a passive consumer.
My work changes the way the viewer traditionally interacts with a piece of art, emphasizing the satisfaction and enjoyment found in being able to physically touch something. By reverting back to older forms of animation technology I encourage the viewer to think about the way we consume and interact with art and the world around us.
